So, this past weekend, I drove to Annapolis for a Bachelorette Party for one of my closest friends/sorority sister from college (shout out to GCC). Caily and I became friends about 6 years ago when I went over to Mike’s apt. for a visit and these three gorgeous blondes (Caily included) were in the apt. cooking dinner for his roommate. I remember feeling out of place in my sweatpants and pony tail from a day of traveling. Little did I know that our humble beginning would lead to one of the greatest friendships of my adult life. So, when I got the invite to Annapolis to celebrate her, I jumped at the chance, for many reasons.
In the spirit of my “Wandering” posts, I thought that I would share some of the highlights from my trip to give you a point of reference in the event that you stumble across the sweet town of Annapolis.
Annapolis is a picturesque little town situated on the Chesapeake Bay. It has a great coastal feel, with the water running right into town. I am a sucker for bistro lights on anything, anywhere and Annapolis does not disappoint.
I mean, how can you go to Maryland without getting crab cakes? Black Wall Hitch was just the spot to get our seafood fix on Saturday night. Black Wall Hitch Menu. I even had my very first oyster experience, which I have to say, I actually really enjoyed! My one regret is that we didn’t have time to check out their Brunch menu on Sunday morning.
While on the trip, we went hiking at Quiet Waters Park Saturday morning. The paths have gorgeous water views of the South River, leading to the Chesapeake Bay. We figured that we would earn our day of wine ahead.
Speaking of wine, next stop on the agenda was the Great Frogs Winery. I am a huge fan of a good winery and this one was lovely. They had a large barn, as well as a separate building used for more intimate tasting experiences. On the day that we went they also had live music in the barn, pictured here.
The tasting included 6 different wines, served in sweet little decanters with the Great Frog emblem down the side to indicate how much should be poured for each taster, which I think was a great little touch, forget the wine, I wanted to bring the little decanters home with me. Obviously, I went for the full bodied red, yum! Order your own wine here: Great Frog Wine.
The rest of the day we spent walking around the harbor shopping at little boutiques (3 Sisters and Lou Lou were my favorites) and trying to resist the urge to get the free fudge with any purchase at the convenience store. I would love to give my suggestions if you are headed to Annapolis anytime soon! Just hit your girl up!
“May you go everywhere and wear it all.”
